A New Day For The Plus-Sized Shopper
If you’re a plus sized woman, meaning over a size 12, your day in the fashion sun has come. Gone are the days of settling for whatever you could find to fit or buying something that looks like your great-aunt Lula would wear to church. Instead, the plus size dress and career clothing have under-gone a revolution and continues to evolve into a fashion bonanza.
It only makes sense, when the majority of American women are above a size 12, that the fashion industry would step up to the plate and begin producing clothes that will make a woman feel on the outside like she already does on the inside. She’s sexy, bold and beautiful in both places and should have clothes that reflect that.
Another issue that many have found when buying plus sized clothing is that affordable clothing is often times made with sub-par quality. With several newer designers and retail outlets, along with the Internet as a shopping mall, prices seem to be coming down with quality going up. Yay, for the competition factor in a growing market.
Career fashion is a niche all of its own and an area of the plus sized market that has always been lacking. These days, however, you are starting to see more dresses, pants outfits and suits that bring the plus sized gal equal with her slimmer sisters. Now, she can buy separates or suits and mix and match for a great look. No longer is she limited to black, but a wide range of colors to sport at work.
Along with the casual dress and career styles, the wedding dress has also undergone a re-vamping that tailors the dress to the style of the more curvaceous bride. What looks awesome on a size 8 will not necessarily look stunning on a size 22. But, she can look stunning when a wedding dress is made with a plus sized woman in mind. More styles are available online than in stores, so the plus sized wedding industry still has a ways to go as the bride-to-be wants to be able to try on her purchase before buying. But, compared to where they’ve been, it’s a new day indeed.
